I am very easily distracted. Children take advantage of it quite often and have me help them. It's easy to get my attention for help. On part of my route, I had some children who noticed how easily distracted I was. Every morning we'd be talking up a storm, and I would constantly interrupt them. I'd always yell out, “Look at the clouds!” or “Look at the sunrise!” They'd get distracted too and would ooohh and ahhh with me. One day, little Katie had had enough. She asked me, “Miss Kriket, do you know what ADHD is?” “Yes,” I answered. “ADHD is attention-defeceit hyperactive disorder.” “That's right,” she responded. “Do you know what ADOS is?” I thought for a minute or two and said, “No, I don't believe I've heard of that one.” She continued, “ADOS is attention-defeceit oh shiny!!!” As she said 'oh shiny' her head jerked to another placed and she faked ignoring me. I laughed so hard. I laughed even harder when she followed up with, “You most definitely have ADOS, Miss Kriket.” I couldn't fight her. I knew it was true.
If you remember any stories, feel free to remind me of them and help motivate me to write a few more. :)
