A fabulous day!

Or so I think... lol. I had some fun. We had some bananas that were about to go bad. So I made banana bread. I don't like banana bread, but I figured William would. He brought his friend over and the two of them ate half of it within three minutes! They said it was very good. The exciting thing was that it was my own recipe! I even got it written down so I can make it again!!! This whole bakery idea just might work... :)

I made some caterpillars and chicks for primary since spring is coming. I'm going to hide them around the room and let the children who sing well find one and pick it. Then they'll come up front and look under the caterpillar or in the egg to see what song we'll sing. The chicks took some work, and the caterpillars are still a work in progress lol. They're done, but they need antennas. They look so sad without them!

The songs that are on these creatures are from a list of songs that the children said were their favorite. So they should know most of them, and it should be exciting for them to see when their song is picked!

So here's for hoping that this activity turns out as well as my bread did!

A fun week!

This week was rather fun. My fabulous friend, who's alias name is Snobunny, sent me a package. It had the best thing in the world in it. REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS! It doesn't get any better than that! I felt so very loved when I received it. The same day, my apron came for me too. I haven't gotten a chance to use it, but I don't work today. So I shall take advantage of that and put my apron to good use. Here's a picture of where my apron will probably stay.

And of course, you have to see the fabulous detail put into making this.

Then I was working on some things for primary. I had this little container, and I decided to make it into a "Do As I'm Doing" toy. When the children behave well, we can draw out an action to sing too. The kids are slow at thinking up things and some of their ideas are REALLY irreverent. It's a win-win solution! Oh, and kitty decided it was getting way too much attention, so he needed to investigate.

And then I got my hair cut. I had been looking forward to this for forever. It's not bad, but I don't know how much I love it. I have to wait a few weeks to find out. I feel scalped. She really thinned it.

So there's the scoop on most of my week. Take care!

Apron

Every baker needs an apron! And of course, any ol' apron won't work. Looking cute is very essential for creative minds to make yummy food! So I looked around at several sites (and in stores is just crazy) and found this cute apron!

I love the detail on it and especially the dragonflies! I can't wait to get it. I ordered it today and hope it comes soon!

Food for Thought

30 ¶ And, behold, two ablind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
34 So Jesus had acompassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received bsight, and they followed him
Matthew Chapter 20

Jesus stood still. He didn't just, "Oh, their faith will help them," and go on giving a miracle while walking. He also had compassion on them. As we go through today, I hope we take the time to say a kind word and give a smiel to those we know and a complete stranger. You never know what anyone is going through and how difficult it is. Maybe you taking the time to stand still, say hello, and smile will be what keeps them from taking their life or another person's life.

Planner...

Haha! I got a planner. I absolutely love them!!! I don't know why. I don't use them tons or anything, but I love them anyways!!! Besides, I don't have a set schedule, and this is a way for me to keep track of when I'm working. Thankfully, I always work the same hours. That makes it a little easier. :) Anyways, didn't want to say much besides to say I got it! Have fun!!!

You'd Never Believe Me...

Which is exactly why I even added pictures for proof! There is no denying it! It has snowed in GA. I can't believe it either. I tell the locals that they wanted to welcome me properly and make me feel right at home. They didn't like that much. What's even funnier is that they use their umbrellas in the snow! I've never seen umbrellas in the snow. And they don't know a thing about layering to stay warm. Good thing it doesn't snow here. They'd never survive... But I love it all anyways! Even if the whole town closes down...

Here's some of the tropical plants by our door. It's insane to see tropical and snow at once!

Here's another one. It's all droopy from the weight. :)

And this is the view out of our sliding glass door. Absolutely beautiful!

Have a pleasant day, and God bless!

Jobs and Dreams

One of my best friends called me this morning and told me about a job that sounded perfectly fit for me. Here's some information about it.

Child Life Professionals

Child life specialists are experts in child development, who promote effective coping through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities. They provide emotional support for families, and encourage optimum development of children facing a broad range of challenging experiences, particularly those related to healthcare and hospitalization. Understanding that a child’s wellbeing depends on the support of the family, child life specialists provide information, support and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members. They also play a vital role in educating caregivers, administrators, and the general public about the needs of children under stress.

I've been wanting to go back to college either this fall or next spring, depending on when my residency gets established. I've been wanting to do a job with children. I wouldn't mind teaching, but I hate how it seems like a burearcy (sorry about the wrong spelling) and a game. This seems like something I could be interested in. Of course, it'll take lots of research, but I like the sound of it so far!!!

And I'm looking into ways to have an allergy-sensitive bakery on-line. It sounds ridiculous, but I think I really can make it work. I'm researching this week. I have a friend who sells things on-line, and I think she could help me lots. How cool would it be to have a bakery called: Kriketta's The Every Allergy Bakery You name it, and I'll do my best to make it for you. lol As I said, I'm still trying to figure it all out. But keep an eye out on it! Here comes Kristie into the real world!!!

My poor neglected blog...

My poor blog. I've been busy, busy, busy! First, I thought I had nothing to blog about. Then I had a training meeting for primary, church, and work on the weekend. But I finally have a day off! YES!!! I worked 8 days straight. I'm tired and treated myself to sleeping in until ten.
Oh, I love stories! They are ever so fun, and I love to tell them. I have been working on a memory book. In it are all the stories that I love to tell. I want to tell stories to my children... But we all know why that isn't happening. :( So I've decided to write them down. One day, they'll be here. And I want them to know all the stories, not just the ones I remember. If you remember a story that I might have forgotten, please remind me of it!

You Never Know...

Yesterday went very well at work. I feel more confident which helps me to speak up and look people in the eye. Always a plus. lol I also got a chance to see a situation which really irked me. I don't want to go into too many details, but I do want to explain it. Long story short, I saw some soldiers pull rank on a specialist. This specialist was following orders from his Sgt. and the majors and other sgts didn't like it. It felt like at least half of the bus was upset with him and vocalizing it. He did all he could to help them and then someone yelled out, "Well, you're just a specialist." Oh, it curdled my blood. My husband was 'just a specialist' for years. I'd heard the stories but never seen them. So after everyone got off, I told that specialist that I knew he was a real person with feelings and that I was impressed with how he handled the situation. I attempted to at least raise his spirit for a minute or two. lol No one deserves to be treated like that. Well, unless they've committed some awful crime. It made me so mad. It's things like that that affect a person more than we ever know and can result in suicide or other things. I hope that I can help with this job. I don't know what I'm allowed to do yet, but I'm keeping a good eye out to see. I want to make a difference. And to that specialist: YOU ROCK!!!

Long Hair?

Anybody who knows me, knows that I despise long hair on myself. It's just not me. I can't stand how it falls in my mouth at times, gets in my eyes, and touches my neck. Especially the last one. Hair should never ever touch my neck. So I go through a variety of short hair styles. I really love it when I have spikes in the back. However, going through our recent events, I haven't cut my hair. It seemed like a good way to cut back. Plus, no one can replace Bridgett (my hairdresser), so I don't know where to go yet. lol Anyways, I decided to post a picture of my long hair. Believe it or not, it grows really fast on me. I would have never guessed. I last got it cut on Oct. 27, 2009. The cut and style are still good. It's like my hair kept all the positives and let it grow with it. Hee-hee. That's why I love Bridgett so much. Anyways, I'm thinking of going to the Toni and Guy in Atlanta eventually. I just need a good excuse to get up there to make a pitstop and get a hair cut too! I know my hair isn't long long, but to me, it's super long! This is the longest it's been in months!
